ELSA Creates a Fun Literacy Program for Children
The English Literature Student Association (ELSA) of IPB Cirebon successfully held a community activity called “Literacy Corner” on May 10 and May 17, 2026. The activity took place at Balai Desa Sutawinangun, Kabupaten Cirebon.
Through this program, ELSA created a fun and interactive learning space for children. The activity aimed to improve children’s interest in literacy while also giving them enjoyable experiences outside school activities. In addition, the event became a valuable opportunity for English Literature students to interact directly with the community.
The participants came from kindergarten and elementary school levels. Since the beginning of the event, the children showed great enthusiasm and excitement. They actively joined every activity and enjoyed spending time together with the ELSA committee members.
Storytelling, Singing, and Fun Games
During the event, the committee presented storytelling sessions using children’s books written by English Literature students. Through these stories, the children learned new things while listening to creative and interesting storytelling performances.
Moreover, the event also included sing-along sessions and various fun games. These activities made the atmosphere more lively and enjoyable. As a result, the children stayed active and enthusiastic throughout the program.
Laughter and cheerful voices could be heard during the activities. The children happily participated in the games, answered questions, and sang together with the committee members. Therefore, the event became more than just a literacy activity. It also became a fun and memorable moment for everyone involved.
Furthermore, the committee asked the children about their feelings after joining the activity. Many children answered enthusiastically, saying, “seru, dapet jajanan, ga bosen.” Their honest responses created warm and meaningful memories for the committee members.
When the children were asked whether they wanted to come again for the next activity, they answered together, “mau datang lagi.” This response showed how much they enjoyed the program and how excited they were to participate again in the future.
“Literacy Corner” A Valuable Moment for ELSA
For ELSA, Literacy Corner became a very meaningful experience. Through this activity, the committee members shared happiness, creativity, and educational experiences with children in the community.
In addition, the program reflected ELSA’s commitment to creating positive and useful activities outside the campus environment. The interaction between university students and children also created a warm and supportive atmosphere.
In addition, ELSA continues to show its activeness in creating positive activities and work programs for students and the community. Previously, ELSA also successfully held Fan Sport, a fun badminton event with English Literature students of IPB Cirebon. Through programs like Fan Sport and Literacy Corner, ELSA not only strengthens togetherness among students but also creates meaningful activities that bring positive impact to the surrounding community.
